Stephanie threw her briefcase down and collapsed into a chair. It was Friday.

Thank God it was Friday. Jess and Susan had gone to Michigan for the weekend for a birthday party. Her upcoming depositions on Monday morning had given her an excuse to beg off the eight hour drive. Stephanie would have to work on them later, but not yet. She wanted to relax. Perhaps if she...

Wait a minute.

Was that water running in her bathroom?

She looked out the window, but didn't see any cars.

Nervously, she slipped her shoe off her foot and, brandishing the heel like a weapon, walked towards the bathroom.

It WAS water! Someone was running a bath! She could hear bare feet padding across the tile floor, and then a groan of satisfaction as a body lowered into the tub.

"Jess?" She said nervously.

There was a splash, as if the person in the tub had been taken by surprise....and then....nothing.

Stephanie listened for several long moments, wondering if she had been hallucinating. The bathroom was absolutely silent now. There was no sound of water. No sound of breathing.

Feeling very childish, she kicked the door open with her bare foot.

Nothing.

The room was empty. Someone had left water in the bathtub- probably from the night before. Sighing to herself, the attorney knelt beside the tub to release the stopper.

Wait a minute! It was still hot.

She had only begun to turn her head before it was pinned between a pair of strong hands and forced to remain forward.

"Let me go!" She cried, struggling for release. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

"I might ask the same of you." The voice behind her purred.

Purred. That was the only description. It was a low, velvety sound of a British accent pretending to be more aristocratic than it really was. In spite of her fear, it made her toes curl inside her one remaining shoe.

"This...this is my house..."She protested, wondering if she was going crazy.

"Dr. Vekaris left hours ago..."

"Dr...?" Stephanie felt as if the world was spinning.

"Vekaris." The voice laughed. "Don't pretend to be naive."

"Vekaris is my husband's Everquest name..." She protested. "It's a game that they play over the internet it..."

"It's no game." The voice was deadly serious. "Dr. Vekaris and his band of Monks, Dwarves and Warriors has stolen the plans to build a nuclear bomb."

"But...but...." Stephanie could only blink.

"Surely you've seen the spare computer hulks sitting around your basement?" The force of the hands holding her head began to loosen as compassion entered the stranger's voice. "What did you think they were for."

"S...spare parts." She sputtered.

"Spare parts to take over the world!" The voice was angry again. Fear spiked once more as Stephanie's body was wheeled around to face the man.

He was gorgeous.

In spite of her terror, it was all that she could think: a rugged, handsome face crowned by close-cropped blonde hair and set with piercing eyes, broad shoulders, a trim waist and a....

Dear God. He was naked.

Naked and dripping wet.

"W-who are you?" She stammered, her eyes drawn to the core of him like moths to a pillar of flame.

"Alec Trevelyan, also known as Agent 006."

"Who...who are you with?"

"British Secret Service, MI-6."

"W-w-what are you doing here?" She stammered at last.

Alec slid his finger under her chin and forcing her to meet his burning gaze.

"Dear God, don't you know anything?" He laughed at her, the low throaty beat echoing within her core. He reached behind her, dipping a finger in the steaming water of the bath, then bringing it back to drip along her nose and throat. "I'd have thought it was obvious: I'm taking a bath..." He followed her gaze along his rather spectacular anatomy, noting the hunger in her eyes. "Looks like I'm not the only one who's dirty." He laughed again. "Care to join me?"
